The Lakewood Theater in Madison, Maine, is one of the oldest summer theaters in the United States, operating since 1901 on the shores of Lake Wesserunsett. Known as the "State Theater of Maine," it has a rich history as a major summer tryout for Broadway productions, hosting famous actors like Humphrey Bogart, Betty White, and Groucho Marx, and continues to stage comedies, dramas, and musicals today.
Jail Birds takes place in the women’s communal area of a prison. The female inmates are all of a senior age and have all committed crimes so they can be imprisoned and cared for at the expense of the taxpayer, rather than paying high residential home fees. Now imprisoned, they’re still law breaking by scams, forgeries and producing illegal substances on the prison grounds. The younger prison staff are kept on their toes with the luxury style of living the inmates wish to receive.
