Austin MLB presents Tigers at Yankees
Details
Austin MLB is heading in person to George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida for early Grapefruit League action as the Detroit Tigers face the New York Yankees.
Detroit will open its spring schedule with right‑hander Keider Montero, who went 5–3 with a 4.37 ERA last season, appearing in 20 games (12 starts) as the Tigers continue to evaluate their pitching depth. This is the Tigers’ spring training opener.
New York has now announced right‑hander Carlos Lagrange as its starting pitcher. Lagrange, a non‑roster invitee to Yankees camp as of February 5, 2026, has no major league record and will be making one of his first appearances in big‑league spring action. This is the Yankees’ second spring training game.
With prospects battling for roster spots and that fresh‑season energy you only get in February baseball, this one is about first looks and evaluations as much as the scoreboard. Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy through mid‑morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 83. Calm wind becoming south‑southwest 5 to 8 mph in the morning, per the National Weather Service.
This is not an Austin sports‑bar meetup — we are traveling to the ballpark in Tampa.
Group Seating: Austin MLB will be in Section 218, Row F.
Location note: Meetup’s venue listing is incorrect. The correct and current venue is
George M. Steinbrenner Field, 1 Steinbrenner Drive, Tampa, FL 33614.
