All night long, clashes pitted the youths of the “Muguets” estate against the police, because Abdel—a sixteen‑year‑old boy—was beaten during an interrogation and is now dying. Among these kids, blinded by hatred, are three otherwise unremarkable boys: Hubert, Saïd, and Vinz. Together, they are about to face the most important day of their lives: the day on which the fourth hero of the story makes his entrance—a chrome‑shining automatic, the 9 mm Beretta that an undercover policeman allegedly lost during the riot.
