Make Earth Prelaunch
Details
It's time to act!
Make Earth is a community for doers and makers who want to help solve the climate crisis. Our mission is to enable citizens worldwide to stand up and participate actively in building the solutions to solve the climate crisis.
Make Earth is not a regular meetup group. This is not a group for people who want to go to events and be like: "Hmm interesting..." and then go home and go about their normal life. (We would know as we've organized these types of events in the Copenhagen startup community for almost a decade.) This is a group for doers and makers who want to act and help solve the climate crisis.
A Make Earth member is someone who is not satisfied with how the climate crisis is being solved. You want to do something, perhaps you go to Extinction Rebellion rallies but you want more than affecting politicians. You want to actively help build something technological and/or social that will help fix the climate crisis.
To be a member all you need is to do minimum one thing well and have minimum 1h/week. Maybe you're good at carpentry, drawing, software programming, mechanical engineering, starting companies, leading people, whatever. You need minimum 1 skill and some time to help.
This event is our "prelaunch" and what does that mean?
We've built communities before (cphftw, Lean Startup Circle, Nordic.ai and many more) and the key lesson we've learned is that in order to build a succesful community, the community needs to own itself. That's why this is a prelaunch. We're meeting to test and adapt our hypotheses about how a community like this one could work and get inputs on how we should proceed.
But this is not just a meta-event. We know we need to get to work on building the actual climate solutions. That is why a week or so before the event we're going to launch a giant todo list based on the newest research about what we need to do to fix the climate crisis. We will send this to all attendees prior to the event and we expect that you take a look at it and think about what you would like to work on (also if there's anything missing, which there very likely will be).
Therefore there will be two goals with the prelaunch event:
- Agree on a Make Earth community format
- Everyone should be leaving with a concrete project or action they need to take to bring us closer to fixing climate change. The only thing we can guarantee is that there will be a todo for everybody!
