On Meetup and other social media platforms, fake profiles can make up 10% to 60%—sometimes even more. In addition, Meetup reports that up to 90% of people who join a Meetup group never attend a single event.

To create a successful social activity group of real human beings who actually attend events, you’ll need to attend a virtual event before attending an in-person one. This confirms that you are a real human being and indicates that you are serious about participating.
