Group Kickoff Meeting Part 2

Details
Last meeting's presentation on computerised language understanding can found at: https://hemseye.org/wp/2018/08/07/make-ai-happen-brighton-meetup-launch-meeting/.
This link contains the presentation I gave as well as a link to the videos (four in all) of me giving the presentation.
Following on from the groups initial meeting we discussed what to do next. The suggestions made were:
-
I will give a short presentation on AI in society and AI safety concerns. We then plan to discuss AI safety.
-
We plan to discuss DARPA's plans for explainable AI. DARPA is the US organisation that controls the next generation of US military-led AI research. What DARPA is planning is very similar in aim to my development proposal. We will be discussing:

https://www.darpa.mil/program/explainable-artificial-intelligence
However what DARPA has published currently appears less ambition. I have only skip read their proposal so far. It should, however, be remembered that it might also be the case that what DARPA has released is currently more of a PR exercise rather than a detailed explanation of their real plans.
-
Can anyone bring along ideas of any topic they want to discuss big or small. I think we should find some time in each meetings for some show and tell time. I plan to bring along my Naturewatch PI Zero wildlife camera. See https://mynaturewatch.net/
-
Discussions on further developing and marketing plans for open source community owned computerised language understanding via an embeddable discrete event simulation engine client and cloud server knowledge repository (the HEMSEYE - The HivE Mind'S EYE). Completion of this modelling work would allow development of improved language understanding from text (traditional AI) audio (improved Siri etc) and video / SLAM (novel robotic / youtube cognitive) inputs.
