Don't waste it. Share it.
You know Make Friends and Socialize for our events. But a social club can do more than fill a room. We want to be part of the community we live in, and to build things that help people connect long after the event is over.
So we're launching the ShareSphere Foundation, a non-profit with one mission: keep good things out of the bin and in the hands of neighbors. Join us over lunch on Monday, November 16, for the official launch.
Why it matters
Many of us don't know the names of the people who live next door. ShareSphere only connects you with people close to you, so every thing you give and every hand you lend is a chance to meet a neighbor, see what they share, and start a conversation.
What neighbors share
Things: give what you no longer need, for free, to someone nearby. A lamp, a coat, a chair, the food you won't finish.
Help: need someone to help you paint a room this weekend? Post it, and a neighbor can reach out and lend a hand, for free. Or offer your own time and skills to the people around you.
What happens at the launch
12:00 PM: Doors open. Bring your lunch and something you no longer use.
12:15 PM: Why we started the foundation, and what we want it to change in our neighborhoods.
12:30 PM: Everyone shares a first item or an offer of help, live, and meets the people in the room.
1:00 PM: Back to work. Anything nobody claims leaves with us the same day.
What to bring
Your lunch, your phone, and one thing you don't use anymore, in good condition. ShareSphere is free on Google Play and works in any browser at sharesphere.co. The iPhone app is coming to the App Store.
Who it's for
Anyone who would rather know their neighbors than walk past them, and give things a second life rather than throw them away.
