What we're about

maker

–noun

1. a person or thing that makes.

Finally! A Wellington meetup dedicated to digital fabrication & digital making.

The focus of this meetup is firstly to cater for those who use or want to use the web to make or create items/objects/art & more and secondly to facilitate the sharing of experiences had by those realizing digital projects whilst also meeting like minded individuals who would like to do "more" with the web.

The format will be informal with some regular aspects such as presentations/ demos / tutorials and also some discussions and open forums to explore the maker/fabrication topics people find interesting.

Initially we'll be looking at services such as Ponoko (http://www.ponoko.com/about/the-big-idea) - exploring their process, talking with the Ponoko team about their workflow and looking at products people have created using the Ponoko maker service.

e.g From Doll houses (http://blog.ponoko.com/2010/10/23/flatpack-lasercut-dollhouse/) to digital kit enclosures (http://blog.ponoko.com/2010/10/25/making-enclosures-for-electronics-with-ponoko/)

In the long run we'd ideally like to see the scope of the meetup grow to cover other digital fabrication methods/processes. ( If you have something in mind please do get in touch. )

The main goal is to establish a community of makers in Wellington - so come along and see whats going on.

Please be aware that Makers Meetup has a strict policy of inclusion and mutual respect.
