What Makes Connecticut, Connecticut?

Details

Walt Woodward, Connecticut State Historian Emeritus, and the Band of Steady Habits are returning to the Vernon Historical Society. The band will take us on a musical tour of our state focusing on the iconic places and cultural treasures that tell the story of What Makes Connecticut, Connecticut.

Our trip through the state will be enhanced by stunning photographs taken by acclaimed documentary photographer Carol M. Highsmith who was commissioned by the Library of Congress between 2012 and 2015 to take pictures of Connecticut’s historic buildings and places as they appeared at the beginning of the 21st century.

The Band of Steady Habits combines the photos and beautiful music from the past and present to describe the look, feel, and unique character of one of America’s first – and most original – states.

Vernon Historical Society is grateful to CT Humanities generous grant enabling us to offer this unique historical presentation. The program is free and open to the public.

For further information, please call the Society at (860) 875-4326 or visit their webpage. Learn more.
