Hike: 🌳Chillar Waterways

Hi, hiking lover!

​Join us on the River Chíllar Waterways ****, a beautiful route through the Axarquía region near Nerja. The hike follows peaceful forest paths shaded by pine trees and surrounded by lush greenery. As we walk along the ancient acequias, the trail leads us beside the flow of the river Chíllar, passing small dams, old water infrastructure, and natural viewpoints over the valley.

The acequias you’ll walk beside were built during the Al-Andalus period to guide mountain water to villages and fields — and many of them are still flowing today. You’ll be walking through living history.

ℹ️ Important note: We won’t be walking in the water, only alongside it.

​⚠️ Please read carefully before signing up: This hike is suitable for beginners, but not recommended for people with vertigo, as some sections are exposed.

  ​Tips for a great hike

• ​ Shoes: Hiking shoes with good grip

• ​ Hydration & snacks: At least 2L of water, plus snacks or a light lunch to keep your energy up.

• ​ Sun protection: Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses – especially for the sunny stretches.
