Theory to Practice

Details
Scholarly abstractions like 'theory' and 'practice' belong on friendly grounds. This multi-faceted workshop features an audiovisual presentation and seminar-style discussion. First my lecture will contextualize the persecution of witches by explaining puritanical 'theories of reading' to situate a comparative case study of two Llewellyn books, Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner (1992) and Spirits, Seers & Séances: Victorian Spiritualism, Magic & the Supernatural (2023), as magical objects whose enchantments are differentiated. Thus inviting open forum about spellcasting, I manifest consensus about magic being a system harmonious with sciences.
Once you sign up, I’ll forward the password to a magic zine assigned for homework via chat.
Tickets are a sliding scale from $15-30 and an be purchased from Venmo at @Nika-Mavrody or here on eventbrite.
