"Shut up Alexa!" - NLP and how it is invading our daily lives

Natural Language Processing (NLP) has been present in a lot of discussions about Artificial Intelligence during the last years. What? You don’t know what it is? Well, don’t worry! We are here to tell you. Chances are that you are using some kind of NLP during your usual daily life and you don’t even notice it. During this evening we will talk about what natural language processing is and its possible applications. We will try to understand what powers a typical NLP system and we will have a look at projects like automatic document relations and Amazon Alexa, showing why they are so interesting from the natural language processing perspective and a bit of how they work under the hood. We will then have some beers and snacks while we have a round of discussions, if you feel like it.

Ivan Llopis is a Mechanical Engineer specialized in Control Theory and with a background in AI. He has previously worked in NLP solutions related to document modelling and is currently digging into language models with the GPT-2 framework.
