PostgreSQL's rise to the top database in 2024 is undeniable but some users may hesitate to migrate due to legacy software dependencies and compatibility concerns. I recently went through the process of moving to PostgreSQL in my own Kubernetes setup, and I can confirm. It's not always easy at the start. In this presentation, I’ll share some surprising insights and tips to help you get started. We’ll look at live demos of how to deploy PostgreSQL in Kubernetes, and I’ll also show which LLM worked best for helping with code migration. Ultimately, we answer the crucial question: Despite the initial pain, is migrating to PostgreSQL truly worth it?

Pavel Lukasenko - is the CTO at Kenzap, an enterprise cloud software startup, which lets engineers personalize, collaborate and build cloud solutions for organizations of all sizes. He has more than a decade of experience in industrial automation, SaaS development, and cloud architecture. He is the winner of the Open Innovation Challenge for digitising the customs tax declaration process for the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce. With a background in full-stack development, he has successfully served over 4,000 SME clients worldwide, overseeing projects from conception to deployment.

Andrzej Nowicki - is a member of the CERN Database Team, specialising in Oracle, MySQL and PostgreSQL databases. With a passion for solving technical challenges and a commitment to sharing his knowledge of database systems, he makes valuable contributions to the team's objectives. Andrzej began his journey with CERN in 2020. Prior to joining CERN, he gained experience working with various companies, where he actively contributed to numerous IT projects as a database administrator. He holds a MEng from Poznan University of Technology. Outside of his professional pursuits, Andrzej finds joy in exploring the world around him. He nurtures his adventurous spirit by travelling, hiking and skiing.
