Title of Talk:
Using Change Data Capture (CDC) to Ingest Data into Apache Kafka (English)

Abstract:
CDC (Change Data Capture) involves capturing database changes (like inserts, updates, and deletes) and streaming them in real-time using Apache Kafka. This has several valuable use cases across various industries and applications where CDC with Kafka is beneficial as Real-time Data Integration, Microservices Communication, Data Replication and Synchronization, Event Sourcing and CQRS.

In this talk we will see how the integration between a CDC and Apache Kafka works and the products available to implement these scenarios.

Bio:
Giovanni Marigi works as a Solutions Architect in Confluent and in addition to developing more or less useful things, he works daily with customers on streaming solutions. And he has always been passionate about this.

In the world not yet invaded by *GPT he plays tennis and mountain bikes as well as being an avid reader.

Title of Talk:
The place of Kafka in the moneybase ecosystem

Abstract:
Back in 2020 during the initial design phases of Moneybase, Lambda Architecture was chosen as the main overall architecture. A stream processing system stands as the main corner stone within Lambda Architecture. Apache Kafka was chosen due to its myriad of advantages that bolster the framework's efficacy in processing both real-time and batch data streams.

In this talk we will review the various considerations that were taken particularly towards the wallet system, the outcome, and the future ahead.

Bio:
Andrew Spiteri works as Head of Software in Moneybase for the past nine years. Together with the whole Moneybase team he helped build the system from the ground up and is still actively involved in building and improving the architecture, something which he is really passionate about.
