Sky Meadows: Easy/Moderate 3.9 Mile Hike

Sky Meadows State Park: From Lost Mountain parking lot, we'll first hike Shearman's Mill lollipop. It's a sweet 1.4 mile trek in the woods with about 80 ft elevation, skirting closely to pretty stream for a good section. Then, we'll do a 2.6 mile loop on Rolling Meadows, with two smallish water crossings. We will be rewarded with a sweeping view of the Crooked Run Valley from the benches at a high point. Elevation gain for this second portion is about 220 ft. We'll hike about 2 mph. Well behaved dogs are welcome…I’ll have my little Havanese with me.

PARKING: We will meet at the LOST MOUNTAIN Entrance on RT 17.

NOTE: Parking for this hike is NOT at the Main entrance nor is it at the Turner Pond entrance. The Turner and Main entrances are on the same side of Rt 17. The LOST MOUNTAIN entrance is on the opposite side of Rt 17.
A pit toilet is available at the trailhead.
Don’t forget to bring $10 parking fee as its a VA State Park.
