Manchester AI is an exciting in person event within the city centre. It is a frequent meet up of all local talent within the Data Science and Machine Learning Community.

This is a community building event where everyone from junior engineers to leaders & managers can come, and meet people within the same industry and listen to entertaining & informative talks.

Ryan Searle & Jack Saunders - Founders of Trident Intelligent Solutions - Getting Started: Laying the foundations for AI success.
Artificial intelligence and machine learning promise transformative results, but only when the groundwork is solid. In his talk, Jack Saunders, Technical Director at Trident Intelligence, will explore the essential first steps organisations must take before embarking on their AI journey, including how to identify high-value use cases, prepare data and infrastructure, and build cross-functional teams capable of moving from experimentation to measurable impact. Crucially, he will also examine how to ensure and quantify return on investment from the outset, so that AI initiatives are not only innovative but demonstrably valuable to your business.

In the session, we plan to present how AI methods can be applied to industrial environments, with a particular focus on anomaly detection and quality monitoring. We’ll discuss challenges such as limited examples of defects, the role of synthetic data in training robust models, and the importance of edge deployment for real-time decision-making. We’ll also share practical case studies- ranging from defect detection in silicon wafers to automating industrial paint quality tests- showing how AI can improve consistency, reduce waste, and support faster quality control processes.
