What we’re about

What’s the goal of this group?
This group exists to create a regular space for thoughtful, civil, and intellectually curious discussion. The aim is not to reach consensus, win arguments, or rehearse fixed positions, but to explore ideas carefully and in good faith. We are interested in how people think as much as in what they think.

Who is this group for?
This group is for people who enjoy reading, reflection, and serious conversation — and who are willing to listen as well as speak. You do not need academic credentials, but you should be comfortable engaging with complex ideas, ambiguity, and viewpoints different from your own. Curiosity, intellectual honesty, and respect for others are essential.

What happens at the events?
Each meeting is built around the ideas brought by the participants themselves. Everyone is encouraged to arrive with one idea, question, argument, text, observation, or dilemma they would like to explore with the group. Topics may range across history, philosophy, politics, culture, literature, psychology, economics, or contemporary life.

Discussions are moderated lightly to ensure balance, clarity, and mutual respect. There is no obligation to speak, but there is an expectation of thoughtful engagement.
