Manchester R Meetup! October 2023.

Details
Hi, Manchester R!
We are thrilled to be bringing you an extra special ~ spooky ~ Manchester R this October! By Spooky, your hosts will probably just be dressed as the Python logo.
As before, the event will be brought to you by Datacove. We are a Data Consultancy Team based in Brighton, with experience in founding many well-attended events for R and Python. New leadership team, but the same brilliant community.
We will be supported by the generous team at Better Placed, at The Live Lounge, Huckletree Ancoats, Manchester. Hosted by Abbie Brookes and Zac Nash from Datacove.
For our first talk, we are overjoyed to have Sean Burton, who is a Geospatial Data Consultant at Azura Earth. Sean will be telling us more about “Using R with Geospatial Data”. He continues to explain that he will cover, "how I integrated my interest in maps with my career in Data to become a GIS/Geospatial Data freelancer using R. From the fun and frustration of working with different map projections, all the way to 3D animated built environment data visualisations using Shiny."
For our second talk, we are thrilled to be hosting Nic Crane, the Maintainer of the R Arrow Package (what a title!) who will be sharing her expertise on "Efficiently Engineering Bigger Data with Arrow". She further explains, "Data analysis pipelines with larger-than-memory data are becoming more and more commonplace. There are often blurred lines between data science and data engineering, and knowing a bit of both is a surefire way to make your life easier when working with big datasets."
Now, refreshments! Drinks and pizza will be served from 6pm. Talks will commence at 6:30pm/6:45pm and the event will conclude at 8:30pm. The conversation will continue after the event at a local pub TBC – obviously!
If you didn't already have a million reasons to come, there will be (free!) R Merchandise kindly sent by Posit themselves.
Please feel free to register guests and spread the word.
We look forward to seeing you all again!
