Speakers and talks info :

1. Richard Hill, Founder of Green Cloud Computing.
"Serverless compute powered by decentralised, renewable energy."
https://www.linkedin.com/in/richard-hill1974

Richard is a wannabe pro cyclist who didn’t make it - who then went on to focus on a software developer career. Having seen a few eras of computing come and go ( and even return!), a chance conversation with an old friend saw him dream up a completely green serverless compute platform during lockdown.

Green Cloud is a serverless compute platform that sources its processing power from renewable powered computers. This talk will go into some of the details regarding the journey so far. It hasn’t been a walk in the park, there have been some crushing dead ends and learnings but we have a system that works. With focus on what drove the creation of Green Cloud, where we have got to, the next steps for Green Cloud and where we want to go. It's an innovative platform for performing serverless compute and we hope you enjoy the talk and want to get involved.

2. Peter Eijgermans, Codesmith Frontend at Ordina
"React and Hooks by Example"
www.twitter.com/EijgermansPeter

Learn all about React and Hooks in this talk. During this talk Peter will walk through the process of building an App with React.

Important topics to be covered are: JSX, class and functional components, props, state, lifecycle methods, and hooks. After this talk you'll be able to combine these ideas in React's modular programming style.

Peter Eijgermans is a long-time software developer and an adventurous and passionate CodeSmith Frontend at Ordina Netherlands. He likes to travel around the world with his bike. Always seeking for the unexpected and unknown. For his job he tries out the latest techniques and frameworks. He loves to share his experience by speaking at conferences all over the World and writing for the Dutch Java magazine and DZone. He believes that you as the front-end developer are the spider in the web to bring the user, the team and the product together.

3. Parul Singh, Senior Talent Acquisition Partner at xDesign
"Level Up Your Career; Salary Negotiation and Pay Reviews"
www.twitter.com/parulsingh1995
www.linkedin.com/in/thecodingrecruiter1

Money talk shouldn't be a taboo topic. Many of us hate talking about money especially when it comes to negotiating an offer, or bringing up a pay review with your manager. In this talk Parul will walk you through why you should always negotiate (even for your first role), core principals of negotiation, keeping a brag document to use in pay reviews and promotions and simply how to normalise the conversation around money and stop talking yourself out of it 👀

Parul is an experienced tech recruiter based in Manchester who also codes. She's passionate about using her platforms to raise awareness around issues that drive pay inequality in tech and provides free career coaching to mostly underrepresented folks breaking into the industry.

In the past year she has helped 50+ people negotiate better packages, including many first job offers, £16K pay increase for a software engineer in their existing role and an average 10-15% increase on job offers.

Outside of work Parul enjoys eating in the many delicious food places in Manchester, going to the gym, learning web development and volunteering with CodeYourFuture.
