The first 2.5 miles of this linear walk are all uphill - a steady climb but one which some may find strenuous. Reaching Black Hill Ridge we descend to beautiful grassy paths towards the Dipping stones. Our route then meanders through villages bound by gorse bushes and marshes, and paths to Whaley Bridge via woodland and moors.

There are a number of stiles on this walk and a bridge across the motorway.
Bring waterproofs and expect mud if there has been recent rain.

Meet Point: Near the ticket barriers, or on the platform at Piccadilly Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the train, or at the Walk Start at Furness Vale station.

Transport to Walk Start: 09:51 train from Manchester Piccadilly (final destination Buxton).

Suggested Ticket: Whaley Bridge Off Peak Return £10.80

Walk Start: Furness Vale Railway Station at 10:30

Waypoints: Furness Clough, Broadhey hill,Cock Knoll, Dissop Head, Dipping stones, Hawkhurst, Bridgemont, Buxworth, New Horwich

Return Services: 16.32, 17.04, 17.33 (then xx.03 / xx.33)

Extra: Please use the toilet on the train. There are no toilets at the walk start. No toilets en route. Optional drinks at the end of the walk. Please do not bring your dog (apart from assistance dogs).:
