This is a very pleasant and moderately challenging walk around the countryside in and around the spa town of Buxton. There are great view along various spots on the route and a chance to visit Solomon's Temple, a Victorian folly on the summit of Grin Low hill.
Some paths may be muddy, so please wear the appropriate footwear.
Meet Point: Near the ticket barriers, or on the platform at Piccadilly Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the train, or at the Walk Start at Buxton station.
Transport to Walk Start: 10:51 train from Manchester Piccadilly (final destination Buxton).
Suggested Ticket: Buxton Off Peak Return £13.90
Walk Start: Buxton Railway Station at 12:00
Waypoints: Buxton Pavilion and Gardens, The Serpentine, Cavendish Golf Club, Beet Houses, Bishops Lane, Shay Lodge Wood, Grin Low Woods, Solomon’s Temple, Pooles Cavern Cafe, Pavilion Gardens.
Return Services: 16:46, 17:16. 17:45, 18:16
Extra: Please use the toilet on the train, although there are toilets at the walk start. Toilets at Pooles Cavern cafe 3/4 of the way. Optional drinks at the end of the walk. Please do not bring your dog (apart from assistance dogs)
