**Train based walk**
**Although this is not a high moorland walk, a significant part is over 200 metres, there is 500 metres of climbing, and in December it could be exposed and wintry. Please ensure you bring good waterproofs, plenty of warm layers, gloves and hat! Bring sufficient water and food! And wear boots or walking shoes. Anyone without these things will not be taken on the walk.**

Starting and ending at Marple Station, we'll go via Marple Locks, where the footpath is open again. Just after the Aqueduct, we’ll descend to the River Etherow, and go through Etherow Country Park, where there are toilets. We’ll then go up through Ernocorft Wood to Hollywood End, and end up at Mellor Church, returning to Marple Station via the Cown Edge Way and Peak Forest Canal.

**Meet Point:** Near the ticket barriers, or on the platform at Piccadilly Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the train, or at the Walk Start at Marple Station.

**Transport to Walk Start:** 09:48 train from Manchester Piccadilly to Marple. This will be a busy train going to Sheffield via Edale, so get on as soon as it arrives at the platform.

**Suggested Ticket:** Off-Peak Day Return to Marple £7:30.

**Walk Start:** At the car park at Marple Station at 10:15.

**Waypoints:** Marple Locks, Aqueduct, Lower Watermeetings Farm, Etherow Country Park, Ernocroft Wood, Ernocroft, Sunhill Farm, Hollywood End, Mellor Hall, Mellor Church, Linnet Clough, Strawberry Hill, Peak Forest Canal.

**Extra:** There may be toilets at Marple Station. There are toilets at around 2 and 3 miles. Optional drinks at the end of the walk. Please do not bring your dog (apart from assistance dogs).
