This walk is fairly easy walking along towpaths and tracks, and follows the rivers Croal and Irwell, and the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal through attractive countryside that was once a thriving industrial area.
We see the surviving remains of transport from these busy days, including a number of canal milestones, a flight of six locks, an iconic steam crane, two impressive packhorse bridges and an aqueduct.

Meet Point: Meet at Radcliffe Metrolink stop.

Transport to Walk Start: Allow plenty of time to catch a tram to Radcliffe, the journey takes approximately 20-25 minutes from Victoria

Suggested Ticket: Tram Ticket Zone 4 or Contactless

Walk Start: Radcliffe Metrolink at 10:30

Return Services: Regular trams from Radcliffe

Waypoints: Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal, Moses Gate Country Park, Ringley, Outwood Trail.

Extra: No toilets at walk start or on the route. Optional drinks at the end of the walk. Please do not bring your dog (apart from assistance dogs)
