This Sunday, we’re hosting another Mandarin Chat Circle at the SNFL Library Rooftop (near Bryant Park). This is a structured, teacher-facilitated session designed to get you speaking! It's also fun and casual. There's no cafe there, but you can bring a coffee or tea to it. ***NOTE: To attend, please pay a cover charge ($15 for 1st timers) here. If need another way of payment, please email info@unlockchinese.com.***

The Game Plan:
Sunday, May 17th, 10:30 - 11:20. At the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library at 455 5th Ave, on the 7th-floor outdoor rooftop.

How It Works:
1. Topics & Groups: We will split into two groups to ensure you’re practicing at the right level. Below are the initial topics and groupings for the 1st session:

  • Group A (Beginner/Elementary): Self-Introductions (Name, Jobs, Age, Hometown, Family, Hobbies, Food, etc).
  • Group B (Intermediate/Advanced): Option 1: The Language Learning Journey. Discuss your learning background, goals, the "roses and thorns" of learning Mandarin OR Option 2: Your Favorite Things in and about NYC

2. Rounds: You will start by talking with another learner for up to 10 minutes. Then, you swap partners and talk with a second, followed by a 3rd partner in the next two rounds. Lastly, everyone can float freely and talk to anyone in the group.

3. Rules: Stay in Chinese as much as possible! I’ll be providing a “cheat sheet” for your conversations, and floating between groups to provide vocabulary and on-the-spot corrections. If you are really stuck, you could use your "resources".

NOTE: Depending on enrollment, there might be not enough or too many attendees at your level. In that case, I will let you know to join another day.

Also, the rooftop is seating only (no coffee shops). Grab a coffee/tea nearby before meeting with us if you want.

Can’t wait to see you there and level up your conversation skills with a view!
