I'd really like to practise my chinese and get more comfortable with it. My ex-wife is chinese and our daughter (4 years old) says things in Chinese that I no longer know what the new words are... *gasp*
As long as we don't start talking politics or technology I can do pretty well in a conversation. :) Booking flights, train tickets, shopping, beer and food...haggling over price... I've found that english jokes don't translate into chinese and have the same level of 'funny' to them... I sometimes have a problem if the accent is too thick from whatever area of China they are from.
my name is David. I spent a couple of years living in China and I think it would be great to extend my Chinese speaking skills past "basic conversation"...
Awesome group. Everyone clearly trying to develop their chinese skills and encourage others around them. No egos. I hope to be able to participate in more meetups.
