Mandel Public Library Lectures and Lifelong Learning

Award-winning journalist Wilkine Brutus will present a brief talk on the history of human migration followed by select clips from his podcast “A Boat, A Voyage: A Haitian Refugee Story” along with insight into his creative process. Then he will lead a hands-on interview training session, so participants can conduct meaningful one-on-one interviews with their parents and loved ones to preserve their own family histories for future generations.

Amanda Pike, owner of Pike Food Forest in Jupiter, will give a talk about food forestry as an accessible and practical landscaping option.

In this workshop for the novice family historian, Bonnie Birns of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Palm Beach County introduces tools and strategies for building a pedigree chart, beginning with U.S. Census records.
