Speaker bio:
Tara grew up watching a lot of sci-fi and knew computers were cool, but had no idea what a career in IT could look like for her.
After receiving a Computer Analyst/Programmer diploma from Red River College (RRC), Tara worked as a Programmer for MPI, Programmer Analyst for Sierra Systems, Computer Systems Analyst for Matrix Technology Solutions and as a Programmer Analyst for Qunara Inc.
These career experiences led Tara to hone her skills before returning to RRC as an instructor for the Applied Computer Education Department where she currently teaches in the Business Information Technology and Business Technology Management programs.
Her role RRC has led to many fulfilling volunteer speaking opportunities and partnered community events that encourage young women to learn about IT including Ladies Learning Code, the Bits and Bytes Student Club, the Maven Action Committee, and Microsoft DigiGirlz.
Tara has built her career on sharing her passion and excitement for IT and loves inspiring others. Mentoring is her superpower and she uses it to help people develop their own strengths in IT.
Event info:
For our 6th virtual event, join us at 5 pm CST on March 17th for networking with down-to-earth and like-minded tech people.
We'll be using the virtual conference website, Remo, where you'll meet up to 6 people per table at a time, like how you would meet if you were at an in-person event.
Get a bird's eye view of the tables when you join and see who is at each table. Join the conversation by double clicking a seat any table, move from table to table to meet and chat with others.
When it's time for Tara's presentation we'll share an onscreen time announcement. During the presentation, we'll pause the table conversations and overlay her video screen so you can easily watch Tara speak with us about growing a career in IT.
After her presentation, we'll start up the table conversations again until we wrap up at 7pm. Tara will be around before and after her presentation and would love to chat with you!
You’ll have another 15 minutes to wrap up your conversations and trade contact information with people you’d like to get in touch with.
We’re looking forward to seeing you!
