Shaginappi Hike & optional lunch

Let's hike at Shaginappi Park and if you have time, we could go put to lunch to nearby. 3-4 miles

Shaginappi Park is part of the fond Du Lac County Park System. It is located at W3220 Velvet Beach Rd., Malone. Small Parking Lot here. The park is a natural area of 100 acres of wetlands, Winnebago lakeshore, woods and prairie and is situated adjacent to Columbia Park, sharing Calumet Harbor. Pipe Creek also winds through the park property.

We will check out a couple trails at the park. Mosquitos may be joining us. Hard to say really, so plan accordingly. One of the trails takes us out on a little peninsula on Lake Winnebago.

If you are interested in checking out a good view of the area after the hike, head across the Calumet Harbor waterway to Columbia Park. There is a deck and observation tower there that can be climbed. Optional idea, but people could drive over to the park and climb the tower. Let's have lunch afterwards at the LaClare Creamery on Velvet Beach Rd. Limited menu with artisan food, but there is a store with lots of interesting gifts-homemade soaps, garden center and of course the famous goat cheese. Indoor and outdoor seating.
