Bicycling to Point Beach State Forest Lodge +beach time with snacks

Details

From the Walsh field parking lot we will travel north on the bike path that runs on the western side of Cnty Rd O.

At some point we will have to cross Cnty Rd O and head into the Point Beach State Park forest. No park pass needed for a bicycle.

If you do not have a mountain bike you can still do this ride, but if you have a racing bike or super thin tires you may want to ride on the road once the Two Rivers part of the bike trail ends. Most commuter bikes or hybrids will be able to do the forest trails without a problem. Trail has pea-sized gravel. Because of the differences in bicycles we may end up with two groups of people riding to the lodge destination.

We will stop at the concession stand at the lodge building to get a treat or lunch, upon arrival, so bring $ and a bike lock. If you don't want to stand in line for lunch, walk down the stairs behind the building to convene with Lake Michigan. We will spend no more than 30 there. Could be less depending on group's needs and desires.

Wear a bike helmet and use a bell, or hand signals for stopping.

We will go at an average pace. This is the beginning of the bike season for the average rider. Some of us will definitely want to walk up steeper hills.

If you want to go faster than the group speed, feel free to set your own pace. Everyone should meet up at the lodge, one way or another. The host will not leave the lodge area without checking in with each member.

Total miles round trip: 13 miles
Bring plenty of water.
