Men have gathered around fires, tables, books, workbenches, and circles for a long time to remember who they are and to hear one another tell the truth.
This is the kickoff gathering for Men’s Work Journeys—a new facilitated experience where shared stories become doorways into reflection, connection, and honest conversation.

The idea is simple: one shared work each month, one 90-minute gathering, and a facilitated conversation where men encounter the work, reflect on what it stirs in them, and speak honestly with one another.
Books are our starting point, but future Journeys may also use film, poetry, music, visual art, performance, or other forms of shared story and expression.
The book is the doorway. The work is connection.
The gathering opens the question. Life is where we discover what the question asks of us.
This is open to all men—men already involved in men’s work, men who are brand new, men in MKP, men not in MKP, and men beyond our local communities.
This is not a class, debate club, political forum, therapy group, I-Group, or initiation process.
It is a facilitated men’s work conversation grounded in shared reflection.
We will practice speaking from personal experience, listening with respect, making room for other men, and remaining connected across real differences.
No book is required for the kickoff gathering.
During the kickoff we will:
- introduce the purpose, format, and Community Agreements;
- introduce Journey One: The Self and the larger Men’s Work Journeys model;
- preview the first shared works;
- experience our first facilitated conversation together;
- hear what men want and need as the pilot develops.

Reading the book is encouraged.
The audiobook is equally welcome.
The film A Man Called Otto may also serve as a companion or alternative if you are unable to finish the book.
