What we’re about
Aiming to bring together those who love craft beer, who want to meet more people who also love it, and who want to get out and about to visit more great breweries, pubs and other relevant places - to drink and socialise. Based in Maple Ridge, Lower Mainland, BC, Canada (but may travel!). Check out the BC Ale Trail, Maple Ridge Ale Trail, and local breweries Foamers’ Folly, Switchback Brewing, Ridge Brewing Co, and The Patch for wider info on local and regional craft beer happenings. We do head out of Maple Ridge on a regular basis.
There is a facebook group page to compliment this Meetup group, helping bring people together online to chat and share beer-related goodness. The Meetup platform remains the first place to hear of new everts, and you can find lots more interesting groups, and people on it, so do join and spread the word! Find our facebook group here https://www.facebook.com/groups/872831917871671/
In short let's drink, meet, and be merry.
Note: Legal Age for drinking in BC is 19, so please don't come to an event unless you are legal.
Rules: 'Waste no more time arguing what a good man* should be. Be one' - Marcus Aurelius. No, really. If you're not kind, online or in person, you will be asked to correct your behaviour, and ultimately could be removed from the group. (*person, obviously. Come on, it's a quote from Ancient Rome).
Upcoming events (2)
See all- Last of summer patio beers at Foamers Folly - Monday 22 Sept 5.30pmFoamers' Folly Brewing Co., Pitt Meadows, BC
Let's grab the last of summer (or seize the start of Fall?!) with a patio hang at Foamers Folly Brewing in Pitt Meadows. Yes, it's a Monday, but life is short and there are many breweries to visit and beers to drink. Plus for the whole month of September Foamers are doing an awesome deal with $5 pints each day on select beers. On a Monday there are two options, their 'Mom' Vienna lager and 'Dad' West Coast pilsner. The full range of current beers on tap can be found on their website. Quite the selection!
Foamers' Folly is close to Pitt Meadows train station for any West Coast Express incomers, can be reached by public transit from Haney Mall bus loop on the 701 bus, plus the R3 goes nearby if you are coming from the West by bus. Other options may be available depending on your neck of the woods. You can find out more about Foamers at their website here and on facebook here.
Future dates to be posted in the next few days:
Saturday, October 4 for Oktoberfest time at The Patch Brewery in Maple Ridge. Likely 3 - 6pm.
Tuesday Trivia on October 14 at Foamers Folly (again), Pitt Meadows. Usually 6/6.30 until 8.30pm for trivia.
Got an idea for a beer club event? Post a comment or DM me via meetup. Ideally be prepared to be the host, or offer to co-host with someone who has done it before. It's not hard - just be a friendly, welcoming person who gets there for the start, posts the location, and ideally stays to the advertised end. Simples!
Cheers!
Did you know this meetup group also has a facebook page? You can also find MRCBS on facebook at here - do join in the conversation!
- October Beer club Part 1 at The Patch Brewery for OktoberfestThe Patch Brewery, Maple Ridge, BC
(This is October Beer Club Part 1. Part 2 will be a date for trivia night at Foamers Folly, which is a favourite of ours. That will be Tuesday October 14 and the event will be posted soon).
There's an Oktoberfest in town and so we better show up! Maple Ridge's own The Patch Brewery recently celebrated its first birthday, which is another reason to go visit this excellent brewery venue. Plus it's the time of year for pumpkin pizza, beer and really everything, tbh.
Their Oktoberfest blurb says: From Sept 17 – Oct 8, we’re transforming the brewery into The Patch Haus. Celebrate with our Oktoberfest beer release, grab a limited-edition stein, and enjoy a special German-inspired menu crafted just for the season. Three weeks of steins, sausages, pretzels, music, and plenty of cheer. Prost!!
The Patch has great food, beer (many things to drink other than beer), coffee, baked goods and lots of outdoor space (weather permitting) as well as a fabulous indoor venue. Find out more and give them a follow on facebook.
We'll be there from 3pm, and the place is big so we'll post a comment as usual to say where we are. We will need to register for a table and there is likely to be a wait, so be prepared for that. Please RSVP if you're coming and keep that honest so that we know numbers. We maybe spread across a couple of tables, depending on attendees. Fine to cancel until noon that day, but ideally not after please to help the hosts.
Note: This location is not served by transit, so if anyone wants to meet near Haney Bus Loop in downtown Maple Ridge to share a taxi or ride share from nearby then please post in comments and liaise accordingly.
