Columbia Heights Street Survey, Part II

We're helping the Columbia Heights Main Street organization identify vacant commercial space, walls suitable for murals, and vacant buildings! Meet at the Columbia Heights Metro at 1pm on the west side of 14th St, in front of Potbelly Sandwiches.

The group is interested in mapping:

• commercial/retail space for rent so entrepreneurs can find space,

• blank walls that could be good for murals, and

• abandoned buildings so they can advocate for their re-use.

We'll map areas on/adjacent to Mt Pleasant St from Harvard St north to Park Rd. We'll do data entry at one of the coffee shops, the Coupe at 11th and Monroe would be a good option. I can print out Field Papers for that area.

No OpenStreetMap experience required. If you haven't already mapped, we're just walking around collecting data, and then can add it later at the coffee shop. It's not a full street survey, just adding missing businesses, vacant buildings and buildings for rent, big blank walls that might be good for murals, and that's it!

The group works to "revitalize communities by retaining and recruiting businesses, improving commercial properties and streetscapes, and attracting consumers. Leaders in these neighborhood organizations assist businesses and coordinate sustainable community-driven revitalization efforts in their neighborhoods."
