Come code your maps with us at the first Maptime Utrecht!
The team from Webmapper (http://www.webmapper.net) will provide a workshop to share their hands-on experience in web cartography and geographic web application development.

JavaScript powers most online maps these days. During this evening we'll cover the two primary mapping libraries D3.js (https://d3js.org/) and Leaflet.js (http://leafletjs.com/) .

Never written a line of code before? Don't worry! Maptime is for all skill levels! This is what Maptime is all about: a time and space for collaborative learning, exploration, and map creation.
During the workshop, we create an interactive, online map together taking one step at a time! So bring your laptop to join in.
Are you already a seasoned Web developer or geo-specialist well versed in the ins and outs of JavaScript, don't be put off: also for you there might be new inspiration. If printed maps is more your cup of tea, D3 and leaflet are also great tools to prepare your paper maps!

About Maptime
Maptime Utrecht is a map hack night hosted by Webmapper. We meet once every two months on a Wednesday to work on maps, learn about geospatial data, and teach each other the latest cartographic tools.
Maptime is, rather literally, time for map making. Our mission is to open the doors of cartographic possibility to anyone interested by creating a time and space for collaborative learning, exploration, and map creation using mapping tools and technologies.
This open learning environment for all levels and degrees of knowledge offers intentional support for the beginner. Maptime is simultaneously flexible and structured: creating space for workshops, ongoing projects with a shared goal, and independent/collaborative work time.
Inspiration for Maptime comes from both hack nights and knitting circles. Both are models of spaces for people to create and learn together. Our goal is to provide this space with an open heart and without pretension. You can bring your own projects to work on, just hang out and socialize, or ask questions. Some people are experts, and some people are just getting started, but all of us are learning. So, why not do it together?
