Intro to QGIS: Data & Maps
Details
For this month’s MapTime we’ll get into QGIS (http://www.qgis.org/en/site/), the premier free and open-source desktop mapping application. If you’ve never used QGIS before, this tutorial is perfect for you! Once we cover the basics and give a quick tour, we’ll dive into adding/massaging data and making great maps.
Target Audience: people who want to learn the basics of QGIS, work with data, and make great maps. Beginners encouraged!
Do not forget your laptop! You can download QGIS ahead of time here (http://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html), but if not, we’ll have the setup files for you in class. QGIS is cross platform so Windows, Mac, and Linux machines will work just fine.
There is absolutely no reason why this can't be your first Maptime! Check out our website (http://maptimesea.github.io/) (and tutorials) if you want to learn more about what we'll cover.
We'll be in the usual place hanging out with Broad Street Maps at WeWork!
