Intro:

Turf.js (http://turfjs.org/) is a JavaScript (https://www.javascript.com/) library for spatial analysis. In this session, we'll use it to perform spatial processes right in the browser and share our work via a unique URL.

What to bring:

Be sure to bring your laptop!

Please come ready with a modern browser installed such as Chrome (https://www.google.com/chrome/) or FireFox (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/). It can't hurt to upgrade your browser (https://browsehappy.com/) beforehand.

Examples will be online and editable under the Glitch (https://glitch.com/) community project. To make edits you will need either a Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/) or GitHub (https://github.com/) account.

Target Audience:

Anyone interested in learning Turf.js (http://turfjs.org/) as a lightweight open source option to do common geospatial tasks.

An understanding of basic geoprocessing and HTML will be helpful but is not required. Even though we are using a JavaScript library, prior experience with JavaScript is not required. Though if you want to learn, codecademy (https://www.codecademy.com/learn/javascript) has a great lesson on it.

There is absolutely no reason why this can't be your first Maptime! Check out our website (http://maptimesea.github.io/) (and tutorials) if you want to learn more about us.

Where to go:

Someone will be waiting to let you in by the main entrance of the King County building. If nobody is there, please call 206-477-4593 and we'll send someone down.

About your instructor:

Robin Michael is a software developer at SGSI in Seattle.
