In this engaging workshop, we’ll explore how to use open-source tools to create maps that tell your unique story. Learn about MaptimeSEA, upcoming events, and the behavior we expect from participants during this session. - Introduction to Story Maps and Open-Source Tools (10 mins):
An overview of how maps can be used for storytelling, the basics of open-source mapping tools, and how they can bring your story to life. - Quick Example Showing Story Map Capabilities (15 mins):
A brief demonstration showcasing the creative and impactful potential of story maps, providing inspiration for your own project. - Hands-on Tutorial – Crafting Your Map (25 mins):
We’ll guide you step-by-step through creating a map using open-source tools. You’ll learn to add data, style your map, and bring your creative vision to life. - Your Turn – Build Your Portfolio Map (50 mins):
Work independently or collaboratively to create a personalized map that tells your story. Whether it’s a map of your travels, career milestones, or favorite local spots, we’ll help you craft something meaningful. - Wrap-up (10 mins):
Share your map with others (if you’d like), explore additional resources, and learn how to continue refining your mapping skills.

About the Instructor:
👤Marra Tripodi has been working in the public sector, specializing in environmental policy, since 2015. While GIS isn't her main focus, she leverages it alongside other tools to provide critical data and scientific analysis for managing natural resources and tackling pollution.
