What we’re about
This group is designed for 15-20 year olds on the spectrum to connect & make friends with others who understand them & want to make friends too! In this group, everyone can be themselves, free to do whatever they’d like to do to be comfortable during this meet & greet. While there will be optional basketball & birdwatching, our kids can also just chat & get to know others or simply hang out & observe. They’re in the driver’s seat! Social interaction gives us a sense of belonging and inclusion and that is exactly what we’d like to build here: the opportunity to connect in a casual, low key, welcoming environment, have fun, pursue special interests & build relationships. So how bout it, folks? Let’s have a meaningful day & life and explore possible friendships without judgement.
The goal for our group is to nurture lives filled with joy, fun, enthusiasm & FRIENDS! Are you game? Let’s do this!
We will also use this meetup platform as a way for families of autistic kids to get together & hopefully build lifelong friendships. Along those lines, we do ask that each teen is accompanied by at least one parent. Also, when you RSVP if you can tell us a little about your unique child that would be helpful so that we can try to introduce them to someone who may have similar interests!
