What we’re about

The Marin men’s group is looking for two new members who have done a reasonable amount of personal growth and are comfortable sharing their feelings. We are open to all races of men.

This is not a therapy group and not a religious group, but rather a place to share what’s going on in your life, getting feedback (if desired) and support other men. The focus is personal and spiritual growth.

Format of a meeting:
30-45 minute group discussion topic (we rotate who chooses the topic).
Up to 15 minutes, each man shares what’s going on in his life. We ask men to focus on one or two key topics in his life. It could be relationships, kids, work, health, goals, challenges, or successes.
We meet every other Thursday in Novato from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.

Here is our Mission Statement:
Provide a comfortable environment where a small group of men can feel safe sharing their feelings and get the emotional support they desire. The group will foster a feeling of connectedness and friendship amongst members and encourage personal and spiritual growth.

By default members are asked to listen and raise their hand if they want to ask a question. Don’t offer advice unless advice is requested.

I started the Marin Men’s group in 2008 (17 years ago) when I was a single dad, working from home, and had very few friends. I felt very isolated and craved friendship. I hired a life coach, who coached me on how to start a men’s group. I have to say, the group has completely changed my life and I feel a strong sense of community and have friends to turn to during life’s challenges.

Some men in the group do activities outside of the group together, such as hiking, seeing a band, or going out to dinner. Others just attend the meetings every other week.

The current men in the group are ages 54 to 63. Some have adult kids, others don’t. There are three original members. Most members found the group through my Craigslist ad or friends of friends. We are open to a wide range in ages and welcome diversity.

Please email me if you are interested.
Please include a short summary of some of the personal growth activities, courses, or therapy you have done. Also please let me know why you are interested in participating in a men’s group.

Thank you,

Ed
