MAS Global Big Day Trip 1 - Ocala Wetlands Recharge Park - FREE Public Event
Details
Join Marion Audubon’s President, Max Weakley, on a guided walk of the Ocala Wetlands Recharge Park as we kick off the Global Big Day! This day, the first Saturday of May, is when birders from around the world try to find as many species as possible within a 24-hour period.
The Ocala Wetlands is a great place to start, with many pockets of different habitats, giving us an excellent chance to get a head start on our Big Day. After our walk, we'll meet back in the parking area with Matthew Stanley, the Conservation Supervisor with Ocala Water Resources Department, to kick off their walks for the Wetlands Appreciation Day Event. I encourage anyone interested in continuing at the Ocala Wetlands to assist in leading groups from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM.
Bring binoculars and a camera if you have them. We will have extra binoculars to lend for the walk. We will be walking mostly on even surfaces, but please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. If you plan to join multiple trips during the Big Day, please bring a packed lunch, plenty of water, and whatever else you might need for your health and comfort.
This is a FREE PUBLIC event, so bring a friend! You can join or renew the Marion Audubon Society on our website to access this or other future events.
