Join Marion Audubon’s President, Max Weakley, on a private boat tour of the world-famous Silver River! The Silver River is one of the most pristine freshwater ecosystems in Marion County, if not the entire state. On this trip, we’ll have some great opportunities for many species that can be difficult to find elsewhere in our area, such as Yellow-crowned Night Herons and Prothonotary Warblers.

We will meet at the Glass Bottom Boat Dock in Silver Springs State Park at 8:00 AM, and depart at 8:30 AM sharp. This is located inside the Silver Springs State Park, and you will need to pay $2.00 per person for admission (parking is free).

This trip will take us the full length of the Silver River, beginning at the springhead and ending at Ray’s Wayside, where we will dock for a brief restroom break. Bring binoculars and a camera if you have them. Additionally, bring sunscreen, a hat, water, and a packed lunch as we will be birding into the late morning/early afternoon. There are two restaurants in Silver Springs State Park that you can dine at after we return, if you would like.

The boat has a strict 24-person capacity. Members are permitted to bring one guest, but please ensure you mark them at registration. If not, they may not be able to attend if we reach capacity with paid members who registered correctly.

This is a PAID MEMBERS-ONLY event with strictly enforced capacity, so please ensure you’re up to date on your dues. If you are not a member by the date of this event, you WILL NOT be allowed to attend. If you sign up for this event and discover you will be unable to attend, PLEASE REMOVE YOURSELF from the registration so others on the waiting list can take your place.

You can join or renew your membership with the Marion Audubon Society on our website to access this event and others in the future.
