MAS & ORP Bat and Owl Night at Heritage Nature Conservancy - FREE Public Event
Details
Join Marion Audubon’s President, Maxfield Weakley, and Fort King National Historic Landmark's Outdoor/Historical Resource Archaeologist, Samantha Jarvis, for an evening of birds and bats! We'll have some great opportunities here to see Barred Owls, along with several other birds, before it gets too dark.
Below is the schedule provided by the Ocala Recreation and Parks for this evening:
6:00–7:00 PM – Birding & ID (meet at the trailhead in the parking area)
6:30–7:30 PM – Crafts, owl pellets & nature games available
7:30 PM – Bat Talk at the bat house
7:53 PM – Sunset quiet time (bat emergence shortly after!)
Bring binoculars and a camera if you have them. Additionally, bring bug spray, closed-toed shoes, and a flashlight/headlamp with a red-light feature if possible. We will be near an active bat house, so the smell of guano might be a bit pungent; Vicks or mint gum can help if you think you'll need it.
This is a FREE PUBLIC event, so bring a friend, and this is an excellent outing for the whole family! You can join or renew the Marion Audubon Society on our website to access this or other future events.
