Join Marion Audubon’s President, Max Weakley, at Orange Creek Restoration Area to search for more migratory and wetland birds as we continue the Global Big Day! This day, the first Saturday of May, is when birders from around the world try to find as many species as possible within a 24-hour period.

Orange Creek Restoration Area offers another wide variety of potential species for the Big Day. From incoming warblers to our more typical herons and egrets, to lingering winter birds, we have the chance to add several new species at this stop.

We will meet at the Orange Creek Restoration Area South Tract (5273-5305 E Hwy 318, Citra, FL 32113). Please note that we will be meeting near the observation platform pinned at the following coordinates: 29.442565, -82.067301.

Bring binoculars and a camera if you have them. Please wear long pants, comfortable shoes, and bug spray. If you plan to join multiple trips during the Big Day, please bring a packed lunch, plenty of water, and whatever else you might need for your health and comfort.

Please keep in mind that all times for these events are flexible, depending on the activity and sightings at the previous location. If we are running early or late, we will post updates to the comments of this MeetUp listing.

This is a FREE PUBLIC event, so bring a friend! You can join or renew your membership with the Marion Audubon Society on our website to access this or other future events.
