MAS Silver Springs State Park Birding - PAID MEMBERS Event
Details
Join Marion Audubon's Michael Warren for a guided birding walk through Silver Springs State Park! Michael is a phenomenal photographer, birder, and a favorite trip leader, and we're very glad to have him lead us through probably the most iconic landmark in Marion County!
We'll meet just past the main ticket booth at the park entrance and start from there. The gates open at 8:00 AM, so please be there on time. There is a $2.00 entry fee per person that you will need to pay before entering the park.
Our main targets will be songbirds, woodpeckers, and raptors, but in this area we can also see a wide range of wading birds and many others throughout the morning. For example, birds like Cedar Waxwings, American White Pelicans, Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, Blue-headed Vireo, American Goldfinch, and many more will be making their way back into our area around this time, and have all been seen at Silver Springs around this time in previous years.
Bring binoculars and a camera if you have them. We will have extra binoculars to lend for the walk. We will be walking mostly on even surfaces, but please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. Pack bug spray and sunscreen if you need it.
This is a PAID MEMBERS-ONLY event, so please ensure you're up to date on your dues. You can join or renew your membership with the Marion Audubon Society on our website to access this or other future events.

This is a beginner-to-intermediate birding level event. We should have a nice array of easy-to-spot birds, as well as some more challenging sightings, because this location has a variety of habitats that offer a good mix of species. As a mid-level event, expect to walk 1 to 2 miles at most on mostly even trails, with the potential for sand, dirt, or grass sections. As always, please refer to the details in this MeetUp description above for the exact date, time, and location for this event.
