In October we’ll be discussing The Mad Woman’s Ball by Victoria Mas.
The fictional story about three women in the Salpêtrière Asylum in Paris, 1885.
Based on an historical event; once a year the asylum hosted a ball where the bourgeois mixed with women cast out of society. Geneviève is a nurse in the institution who cares for Louise, a beautiful young patient and star of the asylum’s hypnotism displays. But when Geneviève meets Eugénie, the daughter of a bourgeois family, their fates collide on the night of the Mad Women’s Ball.
I’m looking forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts on this. See you soon.
