The Opening is a gentle, low-pressure group for anyone curious about changing their relationship with substances. Whether you’re sober-curious, committed, or somewhere in between, this trauma-informed group offers support, reflection, and a safe space to come as you are.
The Opening was created as a thoughtful alternative to traditional recovery spaces, including Twelve Step groups, for adults (ages 18+) who are curious about changing their relationship with substances and would like a supportive, low-pressure space to reflect, connect, and explore what that change could look like.
Substances are defined as alcohol, cannabis, prescription medications, amphetamines, opioids, or any another substance you are looking to redefine the regular consumption of in your life.
This group is open to individuals who identify as sober-curious, committed to sobriety, or somewhere in between. Participants are encouraged to attend the full cycle of the group to support continuity, trust, and therapeutic benefit.
Topics will we cover:
Week One: Psychoeducation on Dependency, Sobriety, and Group Intentions
Week Two: Setting Goals using SMART
Week Three: DBT and Emotional Regulation Skills
Week Four: Communication Surrounding Recovery
Week Five: Navigating Sobriety in Social Situations
Week Six: Closing Thoughts and Future Goals / Maintenance
Please note:
This group is not appropriate for individuals under the age of 18, those experiencing acute crisis, active suicidal ideation, unmanaged withdrawal symptoms, or untreated severe mental illness. Individuals who are seeking medical detoxification or intensive substance use treatment should pursue those services prior to joining the group.
