Mars 2022: An Observers Guide. Part I: Visual.

This month’s speaker is long-time member and NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador Gregory Shanos who will present the first of a two-part lecture series on observing Mars. Mars will soon be rising in the evening sky in early December so now is the time to familiarize ourselves with the planet. This month we will discuss how to view Mars through a telescope under high power, identify and sketch it’s surface features, as well as how to use various color filters to bring out subtle detail on the planet.
