What we’re about

Help humanity get to Mars! We are the local chapter of the world's largest organization dedicated to sending Humans to Mars. In Seattle, we show up at local space-related events to help out and perform public outreach activities to help educate people about Mars and space.

The Mars Society is the world's largest and most influential space advocacy organization dedicated to the human exploration and settlement of the planet Mars. Established by Dr. Robert Zubrin and others in 1998, the group works to educate the public, the media and government on the benefits of exploring Mars and creating a permanent human presence on the Red Planet.

Mars Society in Seattle is led by James Burk, who is also the Executive Director of the parent organization. We are one of the Society's oldest chapters, founded in 1998 by James along with Chris Vancil, David Stuart, Randy Rumley and others.
