Yuri's Night Seattle at the Museum of Flight + VR Demos!

Details

The whole world celebrated on April 12, 1961 when Yuri Gagarin became the first person to orbit the Earth; now, the festivities continue with our annual Yuri’s Night party!

The Mars Society Seattle chapter and the Society's Executive Director James Burk, who is based locally, will again participate in this event with a showcase of our Mars Virtual Reality (MarsVR) project that will allow attendees to spend a few minutes "walking on Mars" by visiting a digital VR twin of our Mars Desert Research Station, located in Utah.

This year, we will also have an on-stage presentation and demo at 11AM for the attendees that will unveil new capabilities we have developed for coordinated field science between an analog astronaut on EVA in the field and a VR participant back in the crew habitat (or anywhere else!).

Yuri's Night begins at 10am and runs up until the evening program, which is 21+ only, that starts at 6pm and runs until 11pm. The vibe during the day will be families and "normal" museum attendees, but then the atmosphere during the evening will be a "space party" with costumes and cocktails.

This was a very fun event to attend and volunteer for last year and we have been looking forward to doing it again! Volunteers who are available and complete one or more 4-hour shifts will have free admission to the museum and the evening event.

If you would like to volunteer for one or more of our three shifts, please fill out our Volunteer Interest form here: https://forms.gle/FgM5GAoqHjepzgMu8
