LIMITED SPACE: Hike the Patuxent River Trail (New for DMV Hikers!)

LOCATION:
Patuxent River State Park

Mt Airy, MD 21771

PSA: Don't forget to check this page the night before and the morning of the hike for potential updates/changes. If the hike status is unchanged, there will be no updates.

DESCRIPTION:
Experience this scenic 4.8-mile out-and-back trail in Mt. Airy, Maryland. We'll take the upper trail, which offers a varied landscape, several views of the river, and peaceful songbird melodies.

• This is a natural trail
• It's generally considered an easy-to-moderate route
• It takes about 2+ hours to complete at an average pace of 2.5 MPH, including a few breaks
• Regrettably, we're not able to include dogs on this hike

DEPARTURE: We'll start at 9:00AM; please allow ample travel and preparation time as we all strive to be considerate of everyone's shared time.

CLOTHING: Weather-appropriate clothing and walking shoes/boots are highly recommended. You may also wish to bring your hiking poles/walking stick. Don't forget your bug spray and water. :)

MEETING LOCATION: We'll meet in the parking lot.

RSVP PROTOCOLS:

• Only sign up if 100% you're serious about attending this hike. Spaces are limited and, when you cancel less than 48 hours in advance, you may keep other members from attending!
• Only attend the hike if your RSVP is confirmed (you'll be turned away if your name is not listed on the "Going" tab).
• Change your RSVP to "Not Going" if you can no longer attend

MEMBER PROFILE PHOTOS: To participate in our events, you must display a recent member photo on your profile.

ADDITIONAL ITEMS:

• Please refrain from moving ahead of the hike leader or falling too far behind, as we're unable to move at your pace or provide directions
• If you find the hike pace unworkable, please feel free to separate from the group and continue on your own
• Most of all, we look forward to hiking together!
