American Chestnut Land Trust - Historic Holly Hill Barn and Parker Creek Loop - A Moderate 7 or 10 Miles

We will hike to the Parkers Creek and Bay Overlook, past the recently restored 19th century Holly Hill tobacco barn, and return along the creek. The view of the Chesapeake and Parkers Creek will be open not only from the overlook but along the relocated part of Parkers Creek Loop. We will hike on dirt and former wagon trails through woods and crossing farmland. This should be a good time of year to catch the spring flowers too. The seven-mile hike should end around 1:30. The ten-mile hike should end around 3:00.

The American Chestnut Land Trust (ACLT) protects 3,400 acres of wetland, forests, and farmland in Calvert County, MD. The land trust also protects land in the smaller nearby Governor's Run, which protects mature hardwood forests and plant species more commonly found in the mountains than on the coastal plains. ACLT has a comprehensive land management program established to manage all of the land, structures, and waters for which they are responsible in an environmentally sustainable manner to protect the natural and rural resources of Parker Creek and Governors Run watershed for the benefit of this and future generations.
